Dear Monta Vista Parents and Students:
Welcome to Monta Vista High School! Monta Vista is a four-year comprehensive high school, founded in 1969, with a current enrollment of about 2500 students. Approximately 97 percent of our students will attend college after graduation, and 2/3 of those students will go to four-year colleges or universities. Our school has a reputation for rigorous academics and an extensive co-curricular program that is valued by the community. The staff takes great pride in maintaining a comprehensive program that builds character and values responsibility, respect, and honesty. Our campus is close to the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Cupertino, California, and within a ten mile radius you can find the headquarters for companies like Google, Cisco, Yahoo, Sun Microsystems, and Apple. The school has just completed a phase of new construction and modernization. All instructional spaces have been remodeled, and we now boast a new visual and performing arts building, an expanded library media center, and a new administration building. On a more personal note, it was my pleasure to send both of my children to Monta Vista, and I also worked here as a math teacher and served as department chair. In many ways I feel that Monta Vista is a second home, and it's my goal to ensure that all Monta Vista students feel a similar sense of well-being, pride, and ownership in our school. We are all about developing the whole child, helping students to develop academically, personally, and culturally.
